To the Collective Membership,

It is my responsibility to inform you all of the following events and their implications.

1 - On or about August 1, 2013 we lost contact with MesmerEyes, the founder of the Collective. We have attempted to contact him in every means possible and have been unable to do so. It appears, for all intents and purposes, that he has passed on.  We have to assume that he is no longer with us because of his health issues over the years. This assumption hurts very much, but at this point in time we have no other explanation for what has followed since that point in time. Due to MesmerEyes passing, it falls to myself and ASG to take over the reigns of the Collective to keep it alive.

2 - On December 22, 2013 the Collective site was shut down. This was completely unexpected and we were not fully prepared for this event. With the possible passing of MesmerEyes, the Admin of the Collective, myself and ASG, were in the process of setting up a new domain and hosting for the Collective to be in service by February 20th, 2014 when the current expiration date of the Collective Domain is to expire.

3 - Upon contacting Dreamhost, it was made clear to us that we cannot access MesmerEyes' Dreamhost account and as such we did not have the ability to see what was going on exactly. After going through an involved process, Dreamhost reactivated  MesmerEyes' account and we found that the account had been suspended.

4 - Due to the suspension there is a charge we are currently needing to pay. To keep the Collective active until January 14th, 2014 will require the Admin to pay $450 to Dreamhost ASAP.

5 - After due consideration, the Collective Admin have decided to ask for a donation drive to be able to pay this amount and gain us some needed time to make a server and site move as follows:

6 - If you can assist the Collective, please go to https://gifts.dreamhost.com/ and please purchase a card there for whatever you might wish to. Please note! The maximum per card is $100 US but it can be for any amount. After doing so you will receive a code which can be PMed to myself. Upon the collection of the amount we need I will end this donation drive. GOAL MET WITH THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT

7 - With regards to our hosting, we are the process of negotiations which will, we believe, benefit the Collective. Details of this arrangement will be released when these negotiations are completed and finalized. All I will say at this time is that it will secure the Collective for the foreseeable future.

8 - Arrangements are being made that should myself or ASG pass on, the Collective will be handed to trusted Moderators to maintain the site going forward. This will avoid such incidents as the one we faced on December 22, 2013.

While we have gone through a crisis, there is every indication that we will come out of this a stronger site in many ways.

With my thanks and that of ASG, I can announce that I am closing off the donations drive to deal with the Dreamhost monies that we owed them.

At this time, we have a credit with them of $18.23.

I will be using that credit towards any future charges they may put to us on the 14th of January 2014. If they do not, then I will use that money to pay for renewing the Collective Domain (.net) for another year.

I hope to have another announcement tomorrow with the future hosting plans for the Collective.

My thanks to all those that donated, I'll always be grateful for your support...

Later on today, the New Collective Gallery will open on the Forum.

It is NOT perfect, I am still tweaking it because of several issues with it that I need to fix.

At the moment, there will be NO voting on images, the thumbs up system is not functioning correctly.

Please, should you notice anything weird or strange or otherwise there is something that doesn't seem to be working right, I would appreciate members posting those issues in this thread: http://www.hypnopics-collective.net/smf_forum/index.php?topic=20348 so I can deal with them.

My time, at the posting of this message is approximately 12 Noon Eastern Time on Christmas.

I expect the New Gallery to be functioning by 6 PM Eastern Time with luck.

To access the New Gallery you will find a NEW GALLERY link at the top of the Forum page beside the old Gallery link.
