To the Collective Membership:
The Collective will be moving to a new, more capable sever shortly. When this occurs there will be some down time as things are moved.
The Collective may be down for a period of time should errors in the move happen.
Should the Collective go down for a time, you will find regular updates on the Collective Twitter and Tumblr pages:

Notices will be made at these links and on the MC Forum and Garden of MC to keep everyone informed.
Further announcements will be made as the move approaches, we expect this to happen before February 9th, 2014.

Will the forums and pics be deleted in the process?

Nothing will be lost, we've been through a server move before and if anything happens we have nightly backups of the Collective off of the server so the worst thing that could happen is that we might lose one day of posts or uploads...
But, and I have to stress this, it's never happened before save for some initial slowness when the servers were moving files around...

I'll say. Our youngest daughter is getting engaged and Saturday night my wife and I are meeting her new-in-laws for the first time.

Well...
The move didn't happen, and I have not gotten a response as yet as to why it did not.
As such, the move could happen at any time so if the Collective disappears for a time, that's why.

Long time? Just checked the (new) Forum Gallery, and the last one, while almost 2 hours old, was posted today. Now, I'm not inclined to patience, but even for me that wouldn't qualify as "for a long time". ???
