Title: Just a small alternative to Infinite Worlds, called AI Dungeon 2
Post by: Lunaraia on April 13, 2024, 04:58:20 PM
If I may suggest an alternative for those who are frustrated with the randomness of Infinite Worlds, it's AI Dungeon 2.

AI Dungeon 2 is pretty decent for this kind of thing, and can keep track of things well, but it can go on the weirdest tangents at times, and you basically need a subscription to get any good use out of it as the cost is pretty high otherwise.

However, there are several things that set it apart from Infinite Worlds.

Games can be public and there is even MULTIPLAYER and advanced scripting options. Never tried the multiplayer, but pretty sure you can use AI dungeon as a role-playing chat/game too when you use it.

You can add things to a list for the AI to always remember. Which is nice. The AI can get a bit forgetful and can do some RANDOM tings at times, but with infinite do-overs and a bit of leading it can pull out some wonderful stuff.

It's also noticeably faster than Infinite Worlds' AI, and doesn't crash as often. But you don't get any snazzy pictures to go with. So a bit of column A, a bit of Column B.

Overwhelmingly on the upside, as long as you don't go into outright illegal stuff, the AI's are usually pretty chill as long as you have Mature settings active on the story and don't use the ChatGPI AI Model.

Speaking of, the best ones are locked behind a subscription, rather than a free model, and free users will also be VERY limited on how long they can play. But honestly, the subscription is cheaper than paying for points over at infinite worlds XD.

And for those of you interested but not into clicking links that may or may not be fake, just Google Ai Dungeon 2 and pick the option that mentions AI Dungeon 2: Home as its main header. On the page that pops up, just click on the white text that says, "Play on your Browser."

Also avalible for free is

Kobold AI, a home client with some free servers run by volunteers.   It's a bit slower than AI Dungeon or  Infinite worlds but a large variety of powerful models are available, if unpredictably on to which ones in particular at any given time.  It copied the same memory features as AI dungeon as well.

Out of the ones I tried for whatever reason I ended up clicking with AiDungeon...

here is a link to a Vampire themed scenario. If you pick Senara they have Mind Control abilities. I've done another scenario but there is no mind control in that one.

On that note, if you're happy using that UI, and you're not *completely* destitute or incapable of making online payments: OpenRouter is a nice way to set up for messing with different models, and some of them are very, very cheap. I put in 5 bucks a month ago, have been messing with Llama 3 70B semi-regularly since then, and haven't got through the first dollar yet.

Seconded. I tried out OpenRouter last year but I think I just didn't find the right model to use, so I went back to NovelAI - Kayra isn't too bad. I recently decided to give it another shot and I've been using Claude 3 Haiku. It's much more detailed and better than Kayra and most importantly, it's super cheap (though not as cheap and Llama 3 70B, I think). Working like a charm with SillyTavern.
