Sorry about the two spammer posts a short time ago, those account have been banned fully from the Collective.

Please be aware that I have had to ban a large number of IP addresses that have been trying to log in using two banned User Names.

This shouldn't be a problem and, with luck, it will reduce server load because of the spambot hammering...

There's a massive spammer rush to try and log in tonight... I'm banning IPs as quickly as possible at the  server level....

my suggestion is to IP ban russia, and .ru addresses, they spam alot

As much as that is an option, having checked out our real user base, about 5% are from that part of the world...

When the spam avalanche hit, the autosystem bulk banned several IP ranges as an emergency step one measure, but that locked out about 20 members.

When the attack continued, then it bulk banned a total of 77 IP ranges before I could manage things and clear out the mess.

So, it comes to dealing with them at other levels... manually... one at a time.
