If you use Firefox, you likely are seeing a warning about an insecure connection when logging into the Collective Forum and Archive.
This is a result of Firefox making the choice to warn when you are entering a site that doesn't use a secure connection when entering passwords. A secure site uses something called SSL, you can Google that if you don't know what that is.
Since the Collective came online, we've never used SSL as a means for logging in or anything else...
Currently the Games-Collective site has been moved to SSL and that's working well.
The current version of SMF we use on the Collective, 2.0.13, takes a lot of work in order for it to support SSL correctly. Testing has shown that moving to SSL will cause a massive number of issues for the Forum.
The next version, 2.0.14, is supposed to deal with that, and is expected to be released within the next three to six months, though likely earlier than that.
When that version is installed on the Collective, I'll try SSL again and see what happens then.
That then brings me to the Archive.
It is entirely possible that the Archive will never be moved to an SSL connection because the software doesn't support it.
Thus, going forwards, my expectation is that the Forum WILL move to https (SSL) connections as soon as possible while the Archive will NOT move.
