FYI, for those that asked

I've gotten some PMs about the occasional site freeze that happens once a day.

This happens because the database is doing a optimization of the tables in order to speed up the site. As our database is pushing over 4GB, that takes a bit of time, generally about five minutes, more or less.

The site watches the number of users and when that drops below a certain point, about 25 or so, then the optimization kicks in and the site goes unresponsive for a time.

I know this is a pain, but for the sake of keeping the database as slim as possible, we need to do this.
